The Pagsanjan Falls (or Magdapio in Filipino) is one of the Philippines' most famous waterfalls. It is one of the main tourist attractions of the Laguna region. They are located at about 97 km (2-hour drive) southeast of Manila, on Luzon's island.
The falls are accessible through a river trip by canoe. It originates from the municipality of Pagsanjan, a town that is established in the early Spanish era and is situated at the confluence of two rivers, the Balanac and the Bumbungan. The falls were declared a national park under legislation dated March 29, 1939, and March 31, 1976. The national park covers an area of 152.64 hectares.
Curiously, they should have appeared on a 1932 Philippine stamp, but by mistake, the Vernal Falls of Yosemite Park (California) was inserted instead.
