San Thome Basilica
San Thome Basilica site features
Last updated on October 28, 2026The church
A brilliant white church stretches along the street, its repeated buttresses, pointed windows and small pinnacles leading toward a much taller central spire. Red roof tiles and dark window openings sharpen the pale exterior.
Inside, the nave is long and bright. Pointed arcades draw the eye toward the sanctuary while stained glass adds concentrated colour to otherwise restrained surfaces.
The tomb chapel changes the mood and scale. It is a more intimate devotional space, complemented by a museum whose objects and displays explain the church's apostolic tradition and local history.
