Alatri Events

Alatri's calendar is that of a working provincial town rather than a visitor destination.

Spring and autumn are the sensible seasons for the acropolis, which is open ground with no shelter.

Summer runs from mid-June to mid-September as the hot season, with August averaging a maximum of 29.2 °C.

Religious feasts follow the calendar of a town whose only respected authority after the empire fell was its bishop, and which was an important papal stronghold in the twelfth century.

Winter is long and very cold by Lazio standards, from mid-November to mid-March, with January the coldest month.

Any season suits the walls themselves, which have stood through all of it.

Checking what is actually on. Regione Lazio publishes a region-wide events calendar on its VisitLazio portal, listing festivals, sagre and historical re-enactments by comune and by date. Local feast days move with the liturgical calendar and small-town programmes are often fixed only weeks ahead, so confirm there rather than relying on last year's dates.
