Cerveteri Events

Cerveteri's year is quieter than its fame suggests, because most visitors come for a morning rather than a festival.

Spring is the main season, when Rome comes out for the day and the necropolis is at its best.

Summer shifts the comune's own population towards the coast at Campo di Mare and Cerenova, which function as ordinary seaside settlements quite separate from the archaeology.

Autumn brings the agricultural calendar of the Colli Ceriti and the quieter second window for visiting the tombs.

Village feasts run in the outlying centres — Ceri in particular, a small medieval borgo on its own plateau south of the town.

Winter is mild and very quiet, and the necropolis is at its emptiest.

Checking what is actually on. Regione Lazio publishes a region-wide events calendar on its VisitLazio portal, listing festivals, sagre and historical re-enactments by comune and by date. Local feast days move with the liturgical calendar and small-town programmes are often fixed only weeks ahead, so confirm there rather than relying on last year's dates.
