Cortina d'Ampezzo
Cortina d'Ampezzo Climate Patterns
Summers (June-August) are mild, generally in the high teens to low twenties in the basin and considerably colder on the summits. Afternoon thunderstorms are the norm rather than the exception, which is why mountain walking here starts early.
Winters (December-March) are cold and snowy, with reliable cover for the ski season and temperatures well below freezing for weeks at a time.
The shoulder seasons are genuinely dead: April-May and October-November bring closed lifts, shut hotels and high paths under snow. This is a working seasonal town, not a year-round one.
Altitude and sun matter more than the temperature suggests. UV at 2,500 metres on snow is severe, and the difference between the basin and a summit is routinely ten degrees or more.
