The city of Palm Springs is situated right in the heart of the Coachella Valley desert region in the state of California in the United States. The city of Palm Springs encompasses a total land area of just only 95.1 square miles, or 246.3 square kilometers. Palm Springs experiences hot, dry climates with very little rainfall all year round. This is because, apart from the fact that it is nestled right in a desert region, the city is practically surrounded by mountain ranges, which further elevate the temperatures experienced in the city. It is bordered by the San Bernardino Mountains in the north, the San Jacinto Mountains in the west and the Little San Bernardino Mountains in the east. Nevertheless, Palm Springs remains to be one of the top tourist destinations in the United States so much so that tourism has provided much of the city’s economy. Travelers from all over the country and from other parts of the world are treated to a variety of sights and sounds. Thursdays are the best days to go around the city, especially during the night time. The entire downtown of Palm Springs is transformed into a Village Fest where locals and tourists are treated to a diverse display of arts and crafts made by the locals. There is also a farmer’s market where the locals do their shopping and numerous establishments offering fine dining and live entertainment. If you are feeling lucky, head out to any of the casinos that dot the city of Palm Springs. For a bit of relaxation, take a trip to the local spas downtown and pamper your body and rejuvenate your mind.
