November through February generally offers the most comfortable conditions for long outdoor days. December and January are the driest months in the official Bangkok climate normal, while visitor pressure and accommodation demand can rise around year-end and major events.

March and April are very hot. April also brings Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year, with ceremonies and public water celebrations. Come for it deliberately; otherwise, move outdoor visits to the morning and expect altered traffic and crowded celebration areas.

May through October is the wetter period. Rain does not usually erase the whole day, but intense showers, drainage pressure and river conditions can disrupt a tightly timed route. September and October have the highest normal rainfall totals.

November often marks a useful transition toward drier weather and may include Loy Krathong, whose date follows the lunar calendar. Event dates, river access and weather vary by year, so check the current official programme rather than planning from a past edition.
