Verificato su Wikipedia — Santa Maria a Spaltenna is a Romanesque church with three naves and one apse; its walls and its bell tower are built of filaretti of alberese stone of an ash-grey colour, and the facade has a rectangular opening., The church of San Piero in Avenano constitutes the most significant example of Gothic religious architecture in the Chianti and perhaps in the whole Florentine contado; it presents a basilican plan of three naves concluded by a square scarsella, each nave divided into five bays with round arches resting on octagonal piers, and the interior covering is made with ribbed cross vaults, tall pilaster strips rising from the pier capitals to support the corbels of the vault arches. The gabled facade presents a Romanesque scheme given to it by the restoration of 1832, and in the scarsella is an arch decorated with glazed terracotta tiles depicting cherubim, rosettes and the arms of the Ricasoli.
