The Museo di Castelvecchio

The museum's collection spans medieval sculpture, Renaissance painting, and historic weaponry, arranged through Carlo Scarpa's own restoration design -- his signature use of exposed concrete, deliberate gaps between old and new construction, and carefully framed sightlines is itself considered part of the exhibit.

The equestrian statue of Cangrande I

The museum's best-known single piece, a 14th-century equestrian statue of Cangrande I della Scala (an earlier Scaliger ruler), is displayed on an elevated pedestal Scarpa designed specifically to let visitors view it from multiple angles and heights, rather than from the ground alone.

Ponte Scaligero

The fortified bridge extending from the castle across the Adige is crenellated in the same swallow-tail battlement style as the castle itself, and can be crossed on foot for a river view of both the fortress and the city beyond.
