Bangkok's principal historic sights cluster around Rattanakosin and the Chao Phraya. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew form one complex; nearby Wat Pho deserves its own time. A short river crossing reaches Wat Arun on the Thonburi bank.

Yaowarat and Wat Traimit fit a second district-based route. Jim Thompson House sits closer to the central rail corridors, while Chatuchak Weekend Market is a separate northern outing whose value depends on its operating day.

Khaosan Road is a nightlife and backpacker district, not a summary of Bangkok. Damnoen Saduak Floating Market lies outside the city and should be planned as an excursion rather than attached to a central sightseeing day.
