Keep a little mystery in your trip planning: flip this switch on and Explorer Picture Mode shows a stylized version of every place instead of the real photo, so you can go by the description and reviews first and picture it your own way -- turn it off again any time, or reveal the real photo for just one place at a time from its own page.

Padua's principal sights run roughly north to south through the historic centre and can be walked between in well under half an hour. The Scrovegni Chapel sits at the northern edge near the Roman arena remains; the market squares and Palazzo della Ragione occupy the middle; the Basilica of St Anthony, the Orto Botanico and Prato della Valle cluster at the southern end. Eight of the city's fresco cycles, spread across several of these buildings, were inscribed together by UNESCO in 2021.
